Responsibilities
- Perform sterilization, decontamination, inspection, and packaging of surgical instruments and medical equipment according to strict aseptic techniques.
- Manage inventory levels efficiently, ensuring all necessary supplies are available and properly stored for upcoming procedures.
- Follow detailed medical terminology and anatomy guidelines to accurately identify and handle specialized instruments and devices.
- Maintain meticulous records of sterilization cycles, equipment maintenance, and inventory logs to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to verify instrument readiness and troubleshoot any issues related to sterilization processes.
- Adhere strictly to infection control protocols, including proper handling of biohazardous materials and use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
- Travel to various healthcare facilities as assigned, adapting quickly to different environments while maintaining consistent quality standards.
Experience
- Proven experience in sterile processing or central sterile supply within a healthcare setting is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of physiology and anatomy enhances your ability to handle complex surgical instruments accurately.
- Familiarity with inventory management systems ensures efficient tracking of supplies and equipment.
- Demonstrated understanding of medical terminology and aseptic techniques is essential for precise communication and procedure execution.
- Prior experience as a certified sterile processing technician or equivalent certification is required; ongoing education in sterile processing practices is a plus.
- Ability to adapt quickly to new environments, demonstrating flexibility and excellent problem-solving skills during travel assignments.
